Ramsey County Parks & Recreation offers seasonal positions that provide flexible schedules and a fun and friendly work environment. Opportunities
Golf Grounds Staff
Where: Keller Golf Course, Goodrich Golf Course and The Ponds at Battle Creek Golf Course
Starting wage: $10.75 per hour
Estimated hours: Weekdays, 6 a.m. or earlier and some weekends. Full-time hours available.
The Golf Grounds Staff job is perfect for anyone who loves golf or working outdoors. In this position, entry-level staff will operate string trimmers, push mowers, backpack blowers, utility vehicles and other equipment associated with the daily tasks of maintaining a golf course.
In the Golf Grounds Crew position, you can expect an outdoor work environment, flexible scheduling, uniforms and complimentary golf as available.
Lifeguard
When: June 5–Aug. 22
Where: Battle Creek Waterworks water park, Lake McCarrons and Long Lake
Starting wage: $13.22 per hour. Full-time hours available.
Age requirement: 18 or older to work at Ramsey County beaches, 16 or older to work at Waterworks
In order to be considered for this position individuals must be lifeguard certified. Certification classes are held March 25–27, April 1–3 and May 6–8 and cost $200. Scholarship applications are available for people of color upon request. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Lifeguarding is an incredibly rewarding job that is as mentally and physically challenging as it is fun and memorable. Staff will spend all summer pool or beachside while being a hero. Certified lifeguards in this position are responsible for maintaining a safe swimming environment at Ramsey County facilities.
Park Maintenance
Where: Ramsey County’s parks, trails and facilities
Starting wage: $10.74
Estimated hours: Weekdays, 6:30 a.m.–3 p.m. weekends, 5 a.m.–1 p.m. Full-time hours available.
This position provides an opportunity to work outdoors during the summer doing a variety of tasks. Park maintenance works with full-time staff to maintain the County’s parks, trails and facilities. Typical duties include mowing, using a line trimmer, emptying and picking up garbage, using a blower, power washing shelters and cleaning restrooms.
There are two shifts but there is some flexibility. One shift is Tuesday through Saturday the other shift is Sunday through Thursday. Weekdays are 6:30 a.m.–3 p.m. and weekends are 5 a.m.–1 p.m. In a typical week, a park aide typically works 40 hours with an opportunity to work more.
Park Services Coordinator
Where: Ramsey County’s parks
Starting wage: $15.89
Estimated hours: 10 a.m.–9 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays
As a park services coordinator, staff oversee picnic shelters and pavilions during weekends to provide customer service to facility renters. Staff in this position can expect to perform cleanup and light maintenance at parks as needed. Park services coordinators will use a Ramsey County vehicle to travel to all parks and carry out assigned tasks.
Waterworks Admissions
When: June 5–Aug. 22
Where: Battle Creek Waterworks water park
Starting wage: $10.75
Estimated hours: 10:30 a.m.–7 p.m. Full-time hours available.
In this position, staff will interact with kids and families who are excited for sun and swimming. The admissions person is responsible for welcoming people to the water park, taking money at the front counter, doing some light cleaning and handing out life jackets when necessary.
The Waterworks Admissions position can be combined with a Park Count job so that some days you're out in the parks counting, and some days you're at Waterworks. If you are interested in learning more contact [email protected].
