Medical Reserve Corps

A background check will be conducted at no cost to the applicants. After a background check, volunteers will be required to complete orientation. Although Ramsey County MRC volunteers may be called at any time for a public health emergency, they always have the choice to respond or not. 

Depending on the emergency, volunteers may:

• Work in mass dispensing or vaccination clinics.
• Support epidemiologists in case or contact investigation.
• Serve as supplemental staff at a temporary offsite care facility.
• Provide expert information to residents via phone.

MRC volunteers have helped the community and participated in the following projects:

• COVID-19 vaccine clinics:
  • 650 vaccine clinics.
  • 2597.75 hours volunteered.
  • 560 volunteers deployed.
     
• Flu vaccine clinics:
  • 1991 doses given during the 2022-2023 flu season.
     
• Mask for Everyone initiative:
  • 31 Volunteers gave 170 hours.
  • 87,820 masks mailed to community members.
     
• Basic Life Support provider courses:
  • Three MRC BLS Instructors in program.
     
• Narcan/Naloxone train the trainer:
  • 14 Narcan/Naloxone Trainers in program.

Future program involvement:

• MRC community recruitment events.
• Community CPR/AED training events.
• Community Narcan/Naloxone training events.
• Community psychological first aid training.
• Seasonal flu vaccine clinics.
