BizRecycling helps businesses save a little extra money
Recognizing the current financial hardship that many businesses are experiencing, BizRecycling created Relief grants—up to $10,000 each—for small businesses in Ramsey County and Washington County. Businesses are eligible for a Relief grant even if they’ve already received a BizRecycling grant, and Relief grants fund a wider range of costs than regular grants.

Grant funding available to help schools to reduce waste

Costco warehouse in Maplewood committed to waste reduction
Last year, Jennifer Edman, Costco supervisor at the Maplewood location, reached out to BizRecycling to help improve Maplewood Costco’s recycling. The Maplewood location had already been collecting recyclable and compostable items and donating unsold food to Second Harvest Heartland (a food bank) for several years, but Edman knew there was still opportunity to do more. After a visit with a recycling specialist, Edman discovered that all food scraps could be composted.

A grand opening ceremony will be held for the new Tuj Lub courts at 9 a.m. at Keller Regional Park on June 10.
Childcare center diverts more than 5,500 pounds from the trash each year
St. Croix Kids Early Childhood Center daycare and preschool in Stillwater has been teaching preschool children since 1969. Last year, the center reached out to BizRecycling to learn how to decrease waste and lower its trash bill. Through a BizRecycling grant, St. Croix Kids Early Childhood Center started a food scraps (organics recycling) collection program. The childhood center now has color-coded, clearly labeled bins for food scraps, recycling and trash collection in each room.
