Ramsey County’s department of Information Services is committed to providing college students exposure to professional careers in information technology. Our department welcomes student interns in several divisions, depending on capacity and need. Our internships are focused on supporting IT priorities through project initiatives, while learning and gaining exposure to the various facets of IT functions, as well as Ramsey County and the opportunities of public sector employment.

Available opportunity
The person we select will be joining a diverse and active team that supports the county’s Infrastructure Solutions.
This internship is a great opportunity to work in support of Systems and Network Architects and Engineers as they deliver results for the county. The intern we are seeking will need to be a customer-savvy service provider as you work alongside county staff to design and identify technical network specifications for new and upgraded solutions supporting the county. We need a person that is passionate about following industry best practices to support a hard-working team that utilizes documented procedures and ITIL processes to efficiently deliver desired results. We need a person that has strong Microsoft Excel skills with an appetite to learn more about how to use Excel to manage information.
- 75% - Supporting Ramsey County Configuration Management Information using MS Excel. We are willing to help this person take classes to grow their MS Excel skills as they manage our CMDB files and our application portfolio.
- 25% - Day-to-day Operations for the IS Infrastructure services. Shadowing staff to obtain an in-depth understanding of modern technology infrastructure like; Microsoft Servers, VMware, NetApp Storage, Cisco Networking, MS Azure Cloud Hosting Solutions and more.
- While working with the county, this person will have full access to LinkedIn Learning with the ability to spend time on skills development.
Requirements
We need a person that has basic technical understanding. Interns must be actively pursuing a college degree, with preference given for individuals that have completed their freshman level.
Pay
Internships will be paid at $18.079 per hour.
Hours
Up to 40 hours per week with flexibility as needed to support your degree pursuit.
Location
Virtual work from home and working from downtown Saint Paul, Metro Square facility.
