Junior entomologists discover insect diversity firsthand, using sweep nets and hand lenses to scour field and forest. The search is on for insects that fly, crawl and hop and even some that aren’t insects at all!
Cider Season

Celebrate the start of the school year with the taste of student-pressed apple cider. Students learn the crucial role pollinators play in the food supply and the interdependence of bees, flowers and fruit. Go on a fall hike to investigate the traveling habits of seeds.
Sugar Tree
Offered in March
With cold nights and warming days, maple sap begins to flow at Tamarack Nature Center. Learn the vital role of maple trees and the history of sweet maple syrup. Students participate in all parts of the syrup process: tapping, collecting, evaporating and, of course, sampling!
Winter Walk-About

What do you wonder as you walk about in winter? Signs of animals, snowy patterns and fun playscapes, to name a few! Let’s figure out what animals are active and learn how they use the snow to play and survive.
