Outdoor trails are open. Discovery Hollow is open with health and safety guidelines in place. Outdoor portable toilets will be available. Nature Center building will remain closed. Programs are planned to resume in September. All programs will follow public health guidelines to slow the spread of COVID-19 and are subject to change or cancellation based on the status of the pandemic. Free virtual programming is also available.

Tamarack Nature Center

Tamarack Nature Center is located about 20 minutes north of downtown Saint Paul. From Saint Paul, take I-35E north to Highway 96, go east on Highway 96 to Otter Lake Road and turn north. Tamarack Nature Center is located about 2.5 miles on the left side of the road.

The nature center building is closed during all Ramsey County holidays. Trails and Discovery Hollow remain open to the public.
Discovery Hollow Nature Play Area
Open daily: 9 a.m. – dusk (30 minutes after sunset). Open select evenings, please call for details.
Monday - Saturday: 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Sunday: noon – 4:30 p.m.
Closed during the winter season (approximately mid-Nov through mid-May).
Trails are open daily from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes
Winter Recreation Rental Shack
The Winter Recreation Rental Shack is anticipated open Saturday, December 19, 2020 – Sunday, February 28, 2021, dependent on snow and trail conditions. The rental shack will be closed December 25, January 1, January 18 & February 15. Hours throughout the season may vary based on weather and trail conditions. Changes to the schedule will be posted on the Cross-Country Skiing page.
