Skiing & Snowshoeing
Skiing and snowshoeing is is closed for the 2018 season.
Tamarack Nature Center is home to beautiful cross-country ski trails and the only designated snowshoe trail in the county parks system.
Tamarack's ski trail system includes a 4K more difficult loop, 3K easier loop and 1K practice loop that's perfect for beginners. A Minnesota State Ski Pass is required for skiers age 16 and above. Day passes are available for purchase in the rental shack. Find full trail rules and grooming conditions on the cross-country ski page.
Winter Recreation Rental Shack
Don’t have your own skis? Want to try out snowshoeing? Tamarack Nature Center offers ski and snowshoe rental at the Winter Recreation Rental Shack, located in the nature center building. Strap on some snowshoes and hit the trails!
Rates apply to both ski and snowshoe rental. All rentals are for a minimum of two hours.
- Ages 6 - adult: $14 for two hours
- Ages 5 and under: $7 for two hours
The rental shack is now closed for the season. Ski trails at Tamarack are currently in poor condition.
- Monday – Saturday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.*
- Sunday: 12:30 - 4 p.m.*
*Please note: Rental hours end at 2 p.m. daily. Rental shack is open from 2 - 4 p.m. for returns only.
The rental shack will be closed on Christmas Day, (Dec. 25) and New Year's Day (Jan. 1).
The rental shack will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 15).
The rental shack will be open on President's Day (Feb. 19).

Private and Semi-Private Winter Recreation Lessons
Dates: Approximately December 19 - March 4
Cost: $45 first person; $30 each additional person up to 4 people
