Skiing & Snowshoeing
Tamarack Nature Center is home to beautiful cross-country ski trails and the only designated snowshoe trail in the county parks system.
Tamarack's ski trail system includes a 4K more difficult loop, 3K easier loop and 1K practice loop that's perfect for beginners. A Minnesota State Ski Pass is required for skiers age 16 and above. Day passes are available for purchase at the Tamarack Nature Center front desk. Season passes are not sold through Tamarack, but can be purchased in advance through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Winter Recreation Rental Shack
Visit Tamarack's ski and snowshoe rental shack and get outfitted with everything you need for a scenic winter trek through our snow-covered prairie and woodland. The rental shack will reopen on December 14, 2019. Hours throughout the season may be dependent on snow and trail conditions.
Ski rental includes classic style skis, boots and poles. All rentals are for on-site use only. Last rental is issued at 2 p.m. daily and all rentals are due back by 4 p.m. Rentals are for two hours and require a driver's license deposit.
Snowshoe rental includes modern style aluminum snowshoes. Snowshoes are available in pre-K to adult sizes; availability may be limited due to demand. Poles are available upon request. All rentals are for on-site use only. Last rental is issued at 2 p.m. daily and all rentals are due back by 4 p.m. Rentals are for two hours and require a driver's license deposit.
- Monday - Saturday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Sunday: 12:30 - 4 p.m.
The rental shack will be closed December 25, January 1, January 20 & February 17. Hours throughout the season may vary based on weather and trail conditions. Changes to the schedule will be posted on the Cross-Country Skiing page.
