Critters day camps are offered to children ages 4-5 and those entering Kindergarten unless otherwise noted.
Critters camps are held Monday-Thursday with a half day or full day option.

$99 for a four-day camp session, 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. 

$199 for a four-day camp session, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Growing Gardens Galore

June 17-20
9.a.m.-noon

A visit to Tamarack’s garden becomes the source of art and food during this week. Press pretty posies and lingering leaves for bookmarks or stationary art. Turn dirt into a unique sculpture. Plant seeds to learn what they need to grow.

Winged Wonders

June 17-20
9 a.m.-4 p.m. - full day camp ($199)

What do birds, bats, bees and butterflies all have in common? They fly! Get up close and personal with a live bird and get explore scientific stations to learn what makes them unique. Go on a search for the many flying insects that make Tamarack home.

Animal Superheroes

June 24-27
9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. 

What can cut through trees, breathe underwater and fly through the sky? Your favorite animal superheroes! Explore the world through compound eyes, study creatures up close and master a super-skill obstacle course. Discover your own superpowers to become a Superhero-In-Training.

Going Buggy

June 24-27
9 a.m.-noon 

We’re off on a search for the most abundant animal group on earth —insects! Sweep the swaying grasses, dip the delightful waters and roll the rotting logs in search of insect hiding places. You can even design your own insect to be part of the bizarre and beautiful world of bugs.

Furry Friends

July 8-11
9 a.m.-noon 

Explore the world of mammals and what makes them unique. Feel real animal fur, make animal tracks and search high and low for the animals that live here.

Music and Motion

July 15-18
9 a.m.-noon 

Boisterous birds, whispering wind and buzzing bees are the sounds of nature’s music. Learn how to become part of a frog chorus and experience a sound hike. Try the rabbit rumba to the chattering of squirrels or the bird boogie to the upbeat rhythm of gurgling water.

Ready, Set…Explore!  

July 15-18
9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m.

Grab your backpack and field journal, and get ready for adventure. Lead the way on daily discovery hikes to meet plants and animals that call Tamarack home. Create your own spotting scope, join a sing-along, play games and of course, explore!

Skink Smarts and Newt Knowhow!  

July 22-25
9 a.m-noon 

Reptiles and Amphibians abound! Learn what makes them special, while you meet Tamarack’s resident animals. Can you say “Herpetologist?”

The World Around You

July 22-25
9 a.m.-4 p.m. - full day camp ($199) 

I spy with my little eye... bugs, trees, turtles and leaves. That’s not all you’ll find once you start delving into the world around you! Spend every day exploring the wonders of nature as we play games, search habitats and use hand lenses to discover even the smallest things.

Colors of Nature

July 29- Aug. 1
9 a.m.-noon 

Nothing can compare to Mother Nature when it comes to color. Search the garden and fields for gorgeous growing rainbows. Turn yellow into green, paint with nature and discover every color under the sun. A creative kaleidoscope of color awaits!

Prehistoric Play 

Aug. 5-8
9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. 

Can you believe that dinosaurs lived in Minnesota? Explore prehistoric times and imagine what Tamarack would have been like with dinosaurs roaming the woods. Can you walk like a dinosaur? Roar like a dinosaur? Eat like a dinosaur?

Fantastic Five

Aug. 5-8
9 a.m.-4 p.m. - full day camp ($199) 

Can you use your sense of touch to identify objects? Can you act like a bloodhound and follow a trail of scents? Challenge your senses as we play camouflage games, listen for bird calls and whip up some amazing taste sensations from our garden.

Garden Greens 

Aug. 12-15
9 a.m.-4 p.m. - full day camp ($199)

Colorful carrots, tasty tomatoes, gorgeous green beans or plump pumpkins—help us grow our garden! Gather some tasty greens for a healthy treat and pick produce for your very own Farmer’s Market..

Homes and Hideyholes

Aug. 12-15
9 a.m.-noon 

Let’s look under rocks, up in trees and everywhere in-between. Search for homes and learn about the animals that live there. All sizes need a home- try your hand at building child-sized nests and miniature hidey-holes.

Best of Critters  

Aug. 12-15
1-4 p.m.
The best things come in small packages! Bring your magnifying glass and be amazed when you find miniscule water bugs, tiny ant worlds and petite plants. Create teeny treasures to take home and enjoy. How many mini-miracles will you find?
