In 2019, Ramsey County partnered with the City of St. Paul and the Vera Institute for Justice to create an immigration legal defense fund. It consists of $100,000 from Ramsey County, $50,000 from Saint Paul and an additional $100,000 from one-time matching funds from the Vera Institute for Justice for a total of $250,000. A collaborative of immigration legal service providers was awarded a contract to provide representation to Ramsey County residents facing removal proceedings and who earn less than 200% of poverty guidelines.

In addition, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners approved another $100,000 specifically for wrap around services to support refugee and immigrant families who are experiencing or have loved ones going through removal proceedings. In 2020, Ramsey County awarded a total of $40,000 in grants for services that support immigrant and refugee families and/or families of immigrants and refugees from Oct. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2020. Applicants were able to apply for up to $5,000 dollars.

We are not accepting grant applications at this time.
